How do I connect to VPN on my Windows computer?

The university now supports and provides the Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN client.  To download, install, and configure the VPN client on your Windows 10 computer:

Save all your work. This process may require you to restart your computer.

  1. Visit and enter your SJU username and password.

2. Click the appropriate download link depending on the version of Windows your computer is running.  If you are unsure if you are running 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows, click here.

Most computers will require the 64-bit installer as shown below:

3. Once you've clicked on the download link, an installer named GlobalProtect.exe will be downloaded to your computer.

  • Once the download has completed, double-click the file you just downloaded (usually located in your "Downloads" folder) and follow the prompts to install.

4. Upon successfully completing the installer, GlobalProtect will open in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen (shown below):

5. For the portal address, enter and click Connect.

6. In the Username and Password fields, enter your SJU username and password.  Do not enter your full email address.

*NOTE* - if you see that "sju-vmad\" or "adsju\" is already entered in the Username field, please delete it first, and then enter your SJU username.

You will be prompted to provide information for two-factor authentication in order to connect.  If you have not yet configured this, please follow the instructions for setting up Azure MFA here

Each time you would like to connect to the VPN going forward, click the GlobalProtect icon in the menu bar, or the shortcut in your Start Menu.

If you have any issues with installing or running this software, click here to report the problem.
