Automatically Drop an Assignment Grade

Step-by-step instructions of how to change Assignment Group Settings to automatically drop an assignment grade

​​​​​​​Canvas can be set to automatically drop grades. For example, if there are five quizzes during a semester but the lowest score is not counted. 

• From the course in Canvas, go to the "Assignments" tool in the left-hand course menu.
  • 
• Make sure the Assignments are put into assignment groups.
  • 
• From the assignment group, click the three dots on the right-hand side, then click "Edit."
  • 
• In the pop-up window, set the "Number of scores to ignore for each student." 
  • For the example of dropping the lowest quiz grade, switch "Lowest Scores" from zero to one. 
  • 
• Click "Save."
