Adding a Slides Carousel to a Canvas Page
Summary
Learn how to embed a Google Slides presentation as an image carousel on a page in Canvas.
Body
Create the Google Slides file that you will be using for the slide show.
From that file, click
File > Share > Publish to Web.
Switch from Link to
Embed
at the top of the settings window.
Review and adjust your other settings accordingly - size, auto-advance, loop, etc.
Click
Publish.
This will generate an iFrame code - a long string of numbers, letters, and symbols that will display the slide deck using HTML.
Highlight the entire iFrame code and click copy
(or use the keyboard command control/command + C).
Open the desired course in
Canvas.
Select the
Pages
tool from the left-hand menu, then click the
+ Page
button.
Add a title to the page, then click in the large text box in the center of the page (called the Rich Content Editor). There is an icon on the bottom right-hand side of the Rich Content Editor that has the following symbols:
</>.
This will
open the HTML editor
.
Once the HTML editor is open,
paste the iframe code
into the text box. It should look similar to the example below.
You can now toggle back to the Rich Content Editor by clicking the
</>
button on the bottom right-hand side. This will display a preview of the slide show and allow you to add any additional content (text, video, photos, additional slide shows, etc.) to the Canvas Page.
Be sure to click
Save
at the bottom of the page (or
Save & Publish
if you are ready for students to see the Page in a live course).
