How do I send Gmail messages on behalf of Google Groups?

Steps required in order to send Email messages on behalf of a Google Group's alias. Typically used for email campaigns.

Initial Setup

  1. On your computer, open Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Settings > See all settings.
  3. Click the Accounts tab.
  4. In the "Send mail as" section, click Add another email address.
  5. Enter your Name (will display when sending messages) and the Email address of the Google Group that you wish to send on behalf of.
    1. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Ensure you keep the "Treat as an alias" box checked!
       
  6. Click Next Step > Send verification.
  7. You will then receive a verification email via the address provided.
  8. You will need to click the verification link in order to confirm that you are authorized to send emails on behalf of this email address.

Sending Messages

  1. In Gmail, click on Compose.
  2. Under the "From" address, you will see a drop-down option.
  3. Click the drop-down and you should see your new alias Name and Email address of the Google Group.
  4. Once selected, you may send your message. This will be sent to the recipient and be seen as coming from the Google Group email address.
  5. If the recipient clicks "Reply", it will automatically populate with the Google Group email address, and will be received by you and other members of the Group.
