State
PA State Grant
The Pennsylvania State Grant Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and provides grant assistance to undergraduate students who are enrolled in at least a two-year program and who are Pennsylvania residents and enrolled at least half time. Eligibility is based on financial need as determined by PHEAA, and 2021-22 awards range between $500 and $5,000. Eligible students who, in their senior year, enroll for nine or more credits in one of their last two semesters may receive a full-time PHEAA Grant even though they are not enrolled full time. Reduced tuition cost must be reported to the agency and may result in adjustment to the grant amount. Recipients must also be Pennsylvania high school graduates or have a Pennsylvania GED. Receipt of PHEAA State Grant assistance may not exceed the equivalent of eight semesters of full-time awards. The filing deadline each upcoming academic year is May 1. PHEAA State Grant recipients who have received two full-time semesters of awards must complete 24 credits. Part-time students are required to complete 6 credits for every semester of part-time PHEAA State Grant aid received in the prior academic year. PHEAA Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) reviews are completed in late August/September, for the prior academic year. PHEAA Grants do not disburse to student accounts typically until after the 3rd week of classes, once SAP reviews have been completed.
All other states should contact their state Department of Higher Education for grant information or visit fafsa.gov to determine what date you must file the FAFSA by in your state to receive state grant consideration.
