What is a grant?

Body

A grant is a type of financial aid that is not repaid by the student. A student must qualify for grant aid. Grant aid includes Federal Grants, (Pell Grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant [SEOG]), State Grants (PA State Grant) and Institutional Grants. Institutional grants and scholarships at Saint Joseph´s University are awarded to full-time, undergraduate day students based on merit and/or financial need at the time of admission.  To be considered for need-based grants through the federal government, state and Saint Joseph's University, a student must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year.  Grants based on financial need can change from year-to-year as individual/family financial need can adjust. Note:  Students who receive the Saint Joseph's University Regis Grant must file the FAFSA each year to have it renewed.
