How do I connect to the sjuwireless network?

If the below instructions do not allow you to connect your Windows or Mac computer to the wireless network, please bring your laptop to the TSC in Science Center room 129, we have technicians ready to assist you immediately!

For Windows 10 - manual configuration instructions

1. When in the desktop right click on the wireless button in the bottom right hand corner.

2. Click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” 

3. Click on “Set up a new connection or network”. 

4. Click on “Manually connect to a wireless network”

5. Click on “Change connection settings”

6. On the box that opens click on the tab labeled “Security”.  Click “Settings”.

7. Uncheck the box that says “Verify the server’s identity by validating the certificate” 

8. Next, select configure and check the box provided.

9. Close out of the configure box and then the settings box by selecting OK and select advanced settings. Check the box that says specify authentication and change the authentication to "user authentication".

10. Click ok and then Ok again to close out of all open windows.

11. While on the desktop, click on the wireless button.

12. In the list of networks, click on “sjuwireless”. 

13. A box should appear called “Network Authentication”. Please enter your SJU username and password 

If you need to remove the sjuwireless network before you can create it. 

Click on the wireless icon.  Click Network Settings. Click Manage Wi-Fi settings. Scroll down to Manage known networks. Click on sjuwireless and hit the Forget button. Once removed, follow the steps above to configure it manually.

For Windows 8 - manual configuration instructions

To access the sjuwireless network, click on the wireless icon in the lower right corner and it will bring up the list of available networks.  Right-click on sjuwireless and select view connection properties.  Click the Settings button and uncheck the top box where it reads Verify the servers...  Once that is unchecked, click OK and exit the properties box.  Now click on sjuwireless from the wireless list and click Connect.  Now enter your SJU username and password.

If this process does not work, please follow the instructions below.

For Windows 7- manual configuration instructions

1. Click the wireless icon in the lower right corner and select Open Network and Sharing Center.
2. Click "Manage wireless networks" from the left menu.
3. If "sjuwireless" is listed in the list of networks, select it and hit "Remove" at the top.
4. Once removed, click "Add" at the top
5. Click "Manually create a network profile" in the dialog box
6. For
           • Network name type : sjuwireless
           • For Security type select : WPA2-Enterprise
           • For Encryption Type select : AES (the default)
7. Click “Next”. This opens a dialog box. 
8. Click “Change connection settings”.
9. This opens the sjuwireless “Wireless Network Properties dialog box”.
10. Click on the “Security tab”.
11. Click the “Settings” button.
12. Uncheck “Validate server certificate”.
13. Click “Configure”.
14. Uncheck “Automatically use my Windows password. .. “ Click OK.  Click OK.
15. Click Advanced Settings. On the 802.1X Settings tab, check the box that reads "Specify authentication mode" and from the dropdown select "User authentication".  Click OK. 
16. Click OK. 

17. Click Close.
18. Close out of the Control Panel

19. In the lower right click on the pop-up window that reads "Additional information is needed to connect to sjuwireless"
20. On the Windows Security dialog box, enter your SJU user name and password.
21. Click OK.

For Mac- manual configuration instructions

1. Turn AirPort ON (if not on already)
2. Click the AirPort icon and click on “sjuwireless”
3. You will be prompted for your SJU username and password
4. After a few moments, you should be connected to sjuwireless

If you are still unable to connect, try clearing your keychain passwords.

1.       Open Utilities. You can open Utilities by selecting "Go" from the desktop. 

2.       In Utilities, click on Keychain Access. If not already selected, please select login from the right of the window.

3.    Click on one of the saved password, at the top choose edit and then select all. Press delete.
After clearing this list, try to connect to sjuwireless again.
