Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan for Graduate Students Direct Lending Master Promissory Note (Log In with your verified FSA ID)

This loan allows all graduate students, regardless of financial need, who are enrolled for at least three credits per semester, to borrow up to $20,500 per academic grad level or per year.  The interest rate is 5.28% for the 2021-2022 academic year, for loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2021; however, interest accrual begins immediately during in-school and deferment periods. Interest accruing during those periods may be paid or capitalized.  The 2020-21 academic year interest rate, for loans first disbursed July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021 was 4.30%.  

Students enrolled in a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program may be eligible for a total of $12,500 in Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans per academic year.  Graduate students enrolled in a Post-Masters Certificate may be eligible for a total of $20,500/year in Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans. Eligibility may be determined after reviewing the FAFSA and the student's individual loan history.
