What is the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)?

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is a federal need-based grant which provides grant assistance to students with exceptional financial need. When awarding SEOG, which is a Federal Campus-Based aid program, priority is given to undergraduate Pell Grant recipients with the highest demonstrated financial need, as required by federal guidelines.  Because SEOG is a Federal Campus-Based aid program, schools receive limited allocations from the federal government each year to award.  As a result, students may be offered SEOG funding at one school and not at another.
