What is Zoom AI Companion?

Zoom AI Companion is an AI-based digital assistant that delivers real-time capabilities, functionality, and assistance to help users improve their productivity and user experience when using Zoom. Zoom AI companion is available in Zoom Meetings.

Is Zoom AI’s Companion available?

The Zoom AI Companion is available for SJU faculty and staff.

Can a meeting attendee enable the Zoom AI Companion?

Only the host can enable the Zoom AI Companion. A meeting attendee can request that AI Companion be enabled. The request will be sent to the host who can choose to enable it or decline it. If denied, the meeting attendee is sent a notification.

Are Zoom AI Companion tools available within Canvas?

Yes, Zoom meeting AI Companion tools are available from the Canvas Zoom link within your course space.

What can I expect when a host enables the Zoom AI Companion?

All participants must acknowledge and agree to the AI Companion disclaimer to remain active in the meeting.

Consent to have AI Companion record and summarize the content of the meeting.

  • Response required: The disclaimer will appear when you enter a Zoom meeting on your desktop or mobile device screen. All meeting participants must either "agree" to stay in the meeting or choose to "leave meeting".
  • If no action is taken: If you do not take action when the disclaimer appears, you can remain in the meeting, but your microphone and camera will be disabled. To enable your microphone or camera, you must agree to the terms outlined in the disclaimer.
    Note: The desktop disclaimer pop-up will automatically disappear after 90 seconds. If you miss the opportunity to accept the disclaimer, you can unmute your microphone or enable your video; this action will trigger the disclaimer to reappear, allowing you to accept it.
  • Mobile response options: On a mobile device, click “Agree” to stay active in the meeting. If you close the disclaimer by tapping "X," you can stay in the meeting, but your microphone and camera will be disabled. If you try to unmute your microphone or enable your video, the disclaimer will reappear. If you choose "Leave Meeting," you will exit the Zoom session.
