Common Issues & Solutions

  • The computer isn't recognizing my thumb drive / USB storage.
Your storage device needs to be using a file system that Windows recognizes.
See: How to format a Mac USB drive to use in Windows
  • I receive an error that there is no default printer set.
You will need to set the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 as the default printer. The computer will remember this setting for your login until the computer undergoes its routine profile deletion. (I.e. you will likely only need to do this once per semester.)
  • I receive an error when I drag-and-drop a file into QTR.
Copy the image file from your flash drive to the computer's desktop before dragging and dropping it into the QTR window.
  • Error message: "Error writing to printer."
QTR does not recognize the .tiff file extension (two 'f's), so if necessary rename your file to have the .tif extension (one 'f').
  • The print queue needs to be cleared.
Run the "Clear the Print Queue" script/shortcut located on the desktop.
  • QTR starts printing my image before I'm finished working on it.
Work on only one job at a time. (Wait until your job finishes printing before loading another image file into the QTR window.)

If you experience any errors or problems not listed here, please contact your instructor or lab coordinator for assistance.
