Workday Mobile App - Biometric and PIN Authentication

Tags Workday

Overview

Using the Workday Mobile App, we are allowing users the option to set up biometric (Face ID, fingerprint, etc.) and/or PIN authentication as a convenient alternate method of accessing Workday from your mobile device. To download and install the Workday Mobile App, you can follow these instructions here.

Note: Due to security requirements, you will have to fully re-authenticate to the Mobile App via the traditional SJU email/password/MFA SSO method every 30 days. In addition, if you set up PIN authentication, you will also be prompted to set up a new PIN during this re-authentication.

Which devices support fingerprint authentication for the Workday Mobile App?

Steps

  1. The first time you authenticate through the Mobile App, you will need to log in with your traditional SSO credentials (SJU email, SJU password, and multi-factor authentication via Azure Authenticator), exactly like you normally would when accessing resources like The Nest.

  1. After this first successful authentication, you will be prompted to set up Biometric authentication. You may see additional options for Biometric authentication, depending upon which smart device you are using.

Note: You are not required to use Biometric authentication or PIN authentication; the traditional email/password/MFA SSO authentication method will always continue to work. If you wish to skip Biometric OR PIN authentication, simply tap the blue “Skip” link in the top right corner in either setup screen. It also is not required to set up BOTH Biometric and PIN authentication; either option is available individually, but both can also be set up as well.

  1. Once Biometric authentication is configured (or skipped) you will be prompted to set up PIN authentication.

  1. Once configured, you will be able to use your Biometric authentication (i.e. Face ID or fingerprint) or PIN authentication going forward. If you’ve set up BOTH Biometric and PIN authentication options, the app will first default to Biometric. If this fails or if you click Cancel, it will fall back to PIN authentication.
