Overview
There are a variety of fields you can update in your career profile in Workday, including your education, achievements, certifications, professional affiliations, job history, and career interests.
The career profile is not currently being utilized for any reporting or tracking, so filling it out is completely optional. That said, many faculty and staff may find the below sections extremely helpful in keeping track of important milestones and information, particularly for inclusion in the performance evaluation process each year.
If you have any questions, please log a ticket here or reach out to humanresources@sju.edu.
Accessing & Updating Your Career Profile
- Go to your personal profile in Workday by clicking on your profile picture in the top-right corner and clicking on "View Profile"
- Click on "Career" in the gray sidebar (you may need to click "More" if the list is too long)
- Click on the tab you'd like to view or update - see details on a few key sections below.
- Note: You will see a "My Job Applications" tab - this is only visible to you and the human resources team and helps track any internal positions you apply to at SJU. It is NOT visible to your manager or anyone else in your supervisory chain.

Certifications
Certifications can be helpful to add in order to keep track of particular professional certifications and specialties. When you edit your certifications, Workday will automatically open the pages to also update your Education and Job History - these are not necessary to add or update to complete the task.
On the “Certifications” tab, simply click “Edit”.
- This will open the “Edit Certifications” task. Click “Add” to view the window to enter your certification.
- Search in the “Certification” field for the appropriate certification. If you don’t see it, you can click the checkbox below to add in a new certification.
- This page is connected to your education and job history, but you don’t need to update those to add certifications. Simply click past these pages or directly on the “Summary” page to get to the end, where you can complete the task.
Professional Affiliations
Professional affiliations in Workday refer to any membership or affiliation you have with an organization. This can be volunteer work, professional organization membership, board membership, or other general affiliation.
From your Career Profile, on the "Professional Affiliations" tab, click "Add". You can search for the name or acronym of an organization to see if it's been added yet. If not, click the “If you cannot find the affiliation, click here” button to enter the name of the organization.
