What is Google NotebookLM?

Google NotebookLM is a new AI feature that we have enabled within our Google Workspace environment. With this tool, you will be able to upload resources (documents, PDFs, images, etc.) into a "Notebook" that you control, and use the AI assistant to produce summaries, answer questions, or otherwise assist you in parsing information across specific information you upload.

Important: These features are currently only enabled for Staff and Faculty.

 

How do I access NotebookLM?

To access NotebookLM, simply navigate to https://notebooklm.google.com using your SJU Google Workspace account. You may then set up your own Notebook and begin uploading resources. Google has provided these instructions for how to set up your first Notebook.

 

What are the limitations on usage of NotebookLM?

Our Google Workspace environment has the following limitations on usage of NotebookLM:

  • Notebooks: Up to 100 per user.
  • Sources: Up to 50 sources per notebook.
  • Source Size: Up to 500,000 words or 200MB per source.
  • Daily Chat Queries: 50 per day.
  • Audio/Video Overviews: Up to 3 per user/day.
  • (Quizzes/Flashcards): Up to 10 per user/day.Artifacts
  • Deep Research: 10 reports per month.

 

Will my data be kept secure and private?

Yes, any usage of these new features remains fully protected and secured within our Google Workspace environment. No usage will be used to train AI models or will be shared outside of our organization.
