How to perform batch scanning directly into Slate

This article provides the steps necessary to begin using the batch scanning and upload capability within Slate.

  • Requisites:
    • A Slate account.
    • A designated locally connected scanner that is powered on and installed on the PC you are working on.
    • Administrative settings:
      • Windows 10  (This is the recommended operating system to use for Slate scanning)
        • You will need to have administrative privileges to perform the installation steps.
        • Each additional user who logs into the computer does not need to be an admin.
      • Windows 7
        • You will need to have administrative privileges to perform the installation steps.
        • Each user who logs into the computer needs to be an admin if they wish to perform Slate scanning/exporting.
  • Log in here:

  • Click "Batch Scan" (pictured below) and you will be prompted to enter your batch name as well as prompted to select the "Material" from the drop-down menu.


     
  • If the Slate Desktop application is not installed or detected, you'll receive the following message:

     
  • Click on "install Slate Desktop" (pictured above) to download the installer.
     
  • Depending your browser settings, you should click on the downloaded file ("SlateDesktopInstaller.msi") to begin installation.  The example pictured below is while using Google Chrome.  (Your download settings will vary from browser to browser, so be sure to initiate the installation of this file, wherever you normally download files. )

     
  • Click "Next" when the installation window appears (pictured below):

     
  • When the installation has finished, click "Close" (pictured below):

     
  • You will now be back at the home Slate web page.  Click on "Batch Scan" again and enter the necessary information. 
     
  • You may receive a pop-up notification prompting you to "Open Technolutions Slate Desktop". ​ (pictured below):
  • Place a checkmark in the box that says, "Remember my choice......." and click "Open Technolutions Slate Desktop" (pictured below):
     
  • You may receive a security warning prompting you to run the application (pictured below):

     
  • Click "Run" (pictured above).
     
  • A brief progress bar window will appear until your scanner selection window appears (pictured below):
  • Provided the scanner is powered on, select the scanner that is installed and attached to the computer you are working on.  (Usually, the scanner you are selecting will be something similar to a Canon DR-4010 or DR-6010)
     
  • Once highlighted blue, press the "Select" button, so that you can begin your batch scanning and uploading.
