Honors at Graduation

Graduation honors are noted on the SJU transcript and diploma and will be awarded after degrees are awarded for cumulative grade point averages in all subjects as follows:

  • summa cum laude - 3.85
  • magna cum laude - 3.70
  • cum laude - 3.50

Averages for honors will be computed on the basis of work completed at Saint Joseph's in College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), School of Education and Human Development (SEHD), School of Health Professions (SHP), and Haub School of Business (HSB) only. To be eligible for honors at graduation, students must complete at least 20 courses in CAS, SEHD, SHP, and HSB.

Professional and Liberal Studies students and Haub Degree Completion students are eligible to receive honors at graduation, which is noted on the SJU transcript and diploma. Honors at graduation will be awarded for cumulative grade point averages in all subjects as follows:

  • summa cum laude - 3.85
  • magna cum laude - 3.70
  • cum laude - 3.50

Averages for honors will be computed on the basis of work completed at Saint Joseph's in Professional and Liberal Studies (PLS) or Haub Degree Completion (HDC) only. To be eligible for honors at graduation, students must complete at least 20 courses (60 credits) in the PLS or HDC program.

Please note: 

  • Graduate and doctoral students are not eligible to graduate with honors.
