Adobe Creative Cloud FAQs

Q: Is Adobe CC free?

A: Adobe CC is available at no additional cost for all SJU faculty and staff and can be made available in any lab or classroom location.

Q: How do I install Adobe CC?

A: For University-issued computers, please see the installation instructions found here.

For personal computers, please see the installation instructions here.

Q: Why is installation taking a long time?

A: If you’re installing Adobe CC over a wireless Internet connection, the process might take longer than usual. You can use a wired Internet connection for a quicker installation time.  If you are at home, the download and install speeds will depend on your internet connection and speed of your personal computer.

Q: Can I sign into Adobe CC Desktop using a personal Adobe account?

A: Yes, however, you will not have access to any software that SJU is entitled to.

Q: Can I sign into Adobe CC Desktop using my personal Google or Facebook account?

A: Yes, however, you will not have access to any software that SJU is entitled to.

Q: Why am I getting a message that my limit has been reached when signing in?

A: Students, Full-time, and Part-Time SJU users are only entitled to be signed into a maximum of 2 Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop applications concurrently.  For example, if you are signed into Adobe Creative Cloud on a podium computer in addition to your SJU issued computer, if you attempt to sign into a 3rd computer without signing out of Adobe on one of the others, you will be presented with a similar message:

If you encounter this message, please select "Sign me out of the other computers so I can sign in here", or select "Manage Activated Devices" to manually select what computers to sign out of.  It is important to remember to sign out of Adobe Creative Cloud when you are done using a public computer.

Q: Can I store my files on Adobe’s cloud-based storage?

A: No, SJU OIT does not recommend storing any documents in Adobe Cloud Storage. The university has an agreement with Google and all SJU faculty, staff, and students have unlimited Google Drive storage.  Also, by installing Adobe CC applications, you agree you will not store any sensitive data on Adobe online storage.

Q: What happens to my account when I leave the University?

A: First and foremost, make sure to back up all of your Adobe CC data files locally. Once your SJU account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to log in to the Adobe CC applications with your University email address. If you would like to continue using Adobe CC after your departure, Adobe has several options available for purchase.

Q: How can I change the language of my Adobe CC software?

A: If you’d like to change the language of your software, please view this Adobe article for step-by-step instructions.

Q: Can I disable Adobe CC from appearing each time I log into my computer?

A: Yes, you will first need to sign into the Creative Cloud Desktop app using your SJU account. Next, on the top left corner of the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop window, click on "File".  Then, select "Preferences".   You will see an option to "Launch Creative Cloud at login", which you can turn off.
