Federal Direct Summer Loan Application
At Saint Joseph’s University, the award year begins with the Summer semester and ends with the Spring semester. Federal Direct Student Loans are available to both undergraduate and graduate students with a completed 2026-27 FAFSA on file for the Summer semester. Please read the important information regarding Federal Direct Student loans at studentaid.gov.
Please submit this request if you would like a portion of your Federal Direct Student Loan to be processed for the Summer 2026 semester.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking undergraduate (at least 6 credits) or graduate (at least 3 credits) program.
- Meet federal Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards reviewed at the end of the Spring 2026 Semester.
Impact on Future Eligibility:
- Students are offered annual loan amounts each year based on their grade level and dependency status.
- If you request to use a portion of your loans in the summer, it will be reduced from your annual eligibility (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027).
- Beginning with the 2026–2027 academic year, Federal Direct Loans will be prorated based on enrollment if part-time.
Financial Aid Disbursement:
- Funds will be disbursed toward Summer 2026 bills and are scheduled to be paid on or after May 28th. If there is a change to your enrollment due to not attending, failing, or withdrawing from a course before this date, your loans may be adjusted.
- Students have the right to cancel or reduce all or part of the student loan prior to the first day of the semester or within 14 days of notification of the loan by submitting a written statement to the Financial Aid Office or by completing a Federal Direct Student Loan Adjustment Form as soon as possible before disbursement. A parent may not decline a student loan.
If you have not done so already, please also complete both entrance counseling and the Master Promissory Note (MPN) at studentaid.gov.
