Rubric for Online Learning Experiences

Purpose: These research-informed guidelines highlight key components essential to a high-quality learning experience for students.

Use this Rubric for Online Learning Experiences (Google Doc copy link) while assessing or designing your course. Keep in mind that the expectation is not to receive 100%. This exercise intends to reflect honestly and productively on the current strengths and weaknesses of the course design and/or course delivery. Use the "add evidence" or "suggest improvements" boxes to provide brief details about each standard. For more information about the Rubric, please watch this brief video

This is a modified version of the original Rubric. Standard Set A is for facilitators and has been removed from this version.

Instructions:

  • The Facilitation & Student Interactions section is designed for a review of an instructor facilitating an online course, and has been removed from this document.

  • The Course Development & Modifications and Course Content & Instructions sections are designed for review of course modifications or new course development and should be completed below.
