Student Printing - Using MobilePrint and the Print Center Website

Introduction:

Students are granted $40.00 of print funds each academic year at the beginning of Fall semester.  This $40.00 allotment can be applied to black and white printing or to color printing at any student HawkPrint printer across both major campuses.  Students take advantage of this by visiting student computer labs located on both campuses or by using MobilePrint to print directly to a connected mobileprint printer.

Unspent funds do not carry over.

The mobileprint web site can be reached with either of these URLs:

Requirements for Mobileprint:

  • You must be on campus and connected to the SJU network to use mobileprint.
  • While most students use mobileprint from their personal computers, or from lab computers, you may also elect to use mobileprint from your mobile phone.
  • If you are using your mobile phone, you will need to be connected to the SJUWIRELESS,  eduroam, or sjudpsk wifi  (cellular data by itself will not find mobileprint).
  • If you're using an SJU lab, the lab computer will need to be plugged into the network and will also work, provided you've logged into the computer using your SJU username and password.

Supported Formats:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio
  • PDF
  • Most Images (JPG, BMP)
  • text files (CSV, RTF, TXT)
  • This is not an all inclusive list, but you will receive an error if a type of file is not supported.

How to use SJU Mobileprint with your SJU email account:

  1. Using your SJU email account, attach the document you would like to print to your email message.
  2. Send your email to mobileprint@sju.edu
  3. Within about a minute, you will get a reply email with a link to the Print Center web site.  Here's an example below:

  1. Click on the link in the email to open the Print Center portal..
  2. Log into the site with your SJU username and password.
  3. Once logged in, select the document that you want to print.  Here's an example below of what the Print Center looks like with a pending print job:

  1. Once the job is selected (see above) you will have the ability to select certain print options such as color, black and white, double-sided, etc.
    • Print Options include the following:
      1. color
      2. black and white (monochrome)
      3. single-sided
      4. double-sided
      5. copies
      6. print range
  2. Select a destination printer where your document(s) will be printed out (preferably one that is near you).
    • Hint, type "p" to get a full list of all printers.
  3. Click Print.
  4. Now proceed to the printer to collect your print job. (With Mobileprint, you do not need to swipe your SJU ID card to release a pending print job)

***Note***  You will only be charged once you click "Print", and the documents will begin printing immediately.
