Fine-grained access (FGA) controls what data a user can see within a report. FGA is applied to data in these areas:

If you attempt to run a report and see no data in the output and/or prompts, you do not have FGA set up. Finance and HR FGA will be set up prior to gaining Cognos security. Faculty FGA should be requested along with Cognos security.
Existing Cognos users likely already have FGA set up, and it does not need to be requested again when making further security adjustments, unless the user has changed departments.
In the Cognos security request please specify what FGA should be assigned--to a specific college or multiple colleges.
