Overview & Policy
All SJU courses must be requested separately each semester, so please make sure to submit a new form for each semester. One form can accommodate up to 3 courses - if you need to list more than 3 courses, you may submit a second form, but please make sure to review the guidelines below on the number of credits allowed per semester and per year prior to submitting a second form.
Any questions about where your request is in process, if you've submitted a form already, or what the outcome is can be found in the "My Requests" report - see "Related Articles" for details.
Undergraduate Courses
The tuition benefit covers 100% of undergraduate courses, up to a max of 9 credits per semester or 18 credits total per financial aid year (begins with summer semester - summer, fall, intercession, spring).
Graduate Courses:
The tuition benefit covers 100% for 6 graduate credits per semester or 18 credits per academic year, with the exception of doctoral programs and certain excluded master’s programs. The Interdisciplinary Doctor of Education for Educational Leaders and the Executive MBA programs have special admittance processes which are communicated annually.
Submitting a Request for Employee Tuition Benefits
Please submit this form as soon as you register for your course(s)!
- In the Workday search bar at the top of your page, search for "Create Request"
- In the create request window, type in "tuition" under request type to find both types of tuition requests. Click on "SJU Tuition Remission Benefit for Employee Courses" so that it populates in the field and click "OK"
- Fill out the full information on the questionnaire:
- Type of course (undergraduate or graduate)
- The semester of the course currently being requested
- The year of the semester - please indicate the calendar year of the semester (eg. Spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year should be "2025")
- Course(s) requested to be covered
- Please have the CRN, class title, meeting days and times, and the number of credits for each course ready to enter.
- You can submit up to 3 separate courses.
- When completed, click "Submit". The form will go to your manager for review to ensure the days/times do not conflict with your work schedule.
After your manager has approved the course days/times, the request will go to the HR Benefits team to review and approve your eligibility to receive the benefit, and then will be sent to the Office of Financial Aid for final processing.
If you have any questions about the policy, please reach out to the benefits team by submitting a ticket here.
