Configuring Gmail in Mac Mail

*If you do not have a technical or feature requirement for using Mac Mail, OIT will not provide support for Mac Mail.  Please use your web browser (google.sju.edu) to get the most out of your Google Workspace experience.

  1. Open Mac Mail.
  2. If prompted to choose a Mail account provider, select Google.

     
  3. If you're not prompted to choose a Mail account provider, from the Mail menu select Accounts, and then click Google.
  4. Your default web browser will open automatically to proceed with the sign in process. Enter your full SJU email address, then click Next.

  5. If prompted to Choose an account, select Google Workspace account.

  6. When prompted to sign in, enter your SJU email address, then click Next.Screen capture of the SJU account sign in window prompting for your email address.

  8. Open your Microsoft Authenticator app to Approve the sign in request.
  9. You may select either option at the Stay Signed In prompt.

  10. You'll have the option of enabling Google services for various applications on your Mac. Select Mail, as well as any others you'd like to use. Your choices are Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Messages, and Notes.

     
  11. Click Done.

Please note, after your Mac Mail has been configured for Gmail, it may take up to 48 hours for all of your email and calendar events to appear due to daily data transfer limits. 

You can access all of your email and all of your calendar events on the web at https://google.sju.edu.
