How do I record a group presentation as a student?

If you need to record a group presentation, you can record it synchronously or asynchronously.

Synchronous (at the same time) Recording

Follow the steps below to record synchronously using Zoom and upload it to Canvas using Panopto:

  1. First, sign into your sju.zoom.us account.
  2. Schedule a Zoom meeting between you and your group mates.
  3. Record the meeting locally (download to your computer).
  4. You can share your screen, present your slides, and take turns speaking. We highly recommend practicing this step.
  5. After you end the Zoom session, the .MP4 video file of the Zoom session will download directly to your computer.
  6. If your instructor has set up an Assignment in Canvas, you can upload the .MP4 file to Panopto in Canvas, where there are some editing options.

Asynchronous (not at the same time) Recording

If you wish to record the presentation asynchronously, we recommend using Panopto. Each member of your group will be able to record themselves and their screen in their own time using this tool. When you are ready, you can splice the separate recordings together.

Please note that the group mate that ends up combining all the recordings will need access to each recording. By default, all your recordings are private. We recommend making a folder and adding all the group members to it as "creators." Save all your recordings in that folder.

Once you're ready to share the final presentation, you will need to submit it in Canvas using the Panopto tool.
